The International Golf Travel Market was held in Palma de Mallorca, from the 14th to the 17th of November. The event brings together the entire global golf and travel community. In addition, the IAGTO, International Association of Golf Tour Operators, awarded Andalusia as the “European Golf Destination of the Year”.

During the international fair IGTM, celebrated in Mallorca last week, the IAGTO had the honor of rewarding Andalusia as European Golf Destination of the year. This way, the association recognizes the work of the Andalusian clubs and golf courses in terms of customer satisfaction and experience: value for money, alternative contents, culture, customer satisfaction, accommodation, touristic offer, professional services…

Francisco Javier Fernández, Minister of Tourism and Sports, had the honor to receive this well-deserved prize. His thankful speech was for the golf community that works day by day in favor of the promotion and commercialization of the sector, as well as the collaboration of all the companies involved. The offer of Andalusian golf is one of the most competitive in the world, considering its excellence, quality, competitiveness and diversity of contents.

IGTM describes Doña Julia Golf in its website as a golf course designed by prestigious reknowned Malaga Architect Antonio Garcia Garrido, ell integrated in the natural landscape of the Casares’ mountains, remarcable for its ample greens with an avarage between 700 and  1000m2, its magnificent views to the Mediterranean Sean and the African Coast and the Mediterranean breeze that invite you to play in any season of the year. Located between Marbella and Sotogrande, just 45 minutes from the International Malaga Airport and few Miles from Gibraltar.

It is a great description that in a few words condenses the essence and the kindness that Doña Julia Golf Club proposes in Spain and the international community. IGTM is organized by Reed Travel Exhibitions and it is considered to be the unique b2b event in the golf tourism global market. Every year, it is celebrated in different countries since 1998, in collaboration with the IAGTO, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.

The IGTM

The IGTM brings together about 1.400 from the golf sector from around 65 different countries, including about 350 tour operators who control nearly 80% of the tourism flow within the golf market. In the last 19 years, IGTM has been hosted in several countries all over the world: Dominican Republic, France, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Turkey and USA.

The clear and main objective that IGTM proposes is very simple: to create opportunities and events to gather every company, golf clubs, resorts, travel agencies, clients and tour operators. We cannot forget the number of networking events and join actions that, in collaboration with the delegates of the IGTM and the IAGTO, make the four days of work a real profitable choice. IGTM closes with a gala dinner, recognized by all participating agents, the Awards Gala Dinner.

IGTM has been held in Spain previously in different places such as Gran Canaria, Marbella (twice), Málaga, Valencia, Tenerife, Mallorca (this year) …In 2017, the 20th anniversary of this great annual event will take place in Cannes, France.
